At UPMC, we are committed to providing Life Changing Medicine through compassionate, patient-centered care. UPMC Thoracic Surgery is seeking an OP Nurse Coordinator I to join our dedicated and collaborative surgical team.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, office-based clinical setting supporting thoracic surgeons, physician assistants, and care teams. The Nurse Coordinator plays a key role in coordinating patient care across the surgical continuum, from referral through post-operative follow-up. This role is ideal for a nurse who is highly organized, thrives in a collaborative environment, and values delivering exceptional patient care.

What You’ll Do:

• Triaging referrals, including TPC Home Health referrals
• Reviewing discharge reports and coordinating ongoing patient care
• Managing patient and post-operative calls
• Monitoring and responding to EPIC in-basket messages and secure chats
• Faxing and obtaining medical records and imaging; utilizing PACS
• Assisting with FMLA paperwork and obtaining provider signatures
• Performing nurse visits for wound checks, TPC drains, and dressing changes
• Preparing and verifying patient charts prior to appointments
• Supporting surgeons and surgery schedulers with case coordination
• Tracking neoadjuvant patients and managing tumor board cases
• Monitoring test results and ensuring timely follow-up
• Assisting with NAVI discs, documentation, and order entry
• Addressing patient and staff questions with professionalism and timeliness

Schedule:

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
• No weekends or holidays
