This full-time role features 12-hour rotating shifts (7 AM – 7 PM & 7 PM – 7 AM) with rotating weekends and holidays. We also offer a $1,500 sign-on bonus with a 2‑year commitment, recognizing the valuable contribution you make from your very first day.

As a Security Officer, you will establish a professional, uniformed presence throughout UPMC property by patrolling hospital buildings, grounds, and adjacent areas to deter criminal activity. You’ll respond to alarms, resolve disputes and unusual situations, assist patients and visitors, monitor access points, handle vehicle and traffic support, conduct escorts, and complete thorough incident documentation. Your role directly supports the safety and comfort of everyone who enters our facilities.

What You’ll Do:

• Patrol hospital buildings, grounds, and surrounding areas to deter criminal activity.
• Monitor security, fire, and environmental alarms; respond and assist as needed.
• Staff fixed posts and oversee access to secured areas.
• Provide customer service to patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Inspect parcels as necessary to prevent theft.
• Respond to disputes, unusual circumstances, and safety concerns.
• Assist with vehicle support and traffic control.
• Transport deceased individuals to/from the morgue.
• Conduct patient escorts and stand-by safety details.
• Operate UPMC vehicles in accordance with PA Vehicle Code.
• Complete required documentation and incident reporting.
• Maintain all mandatory training and certifications.
