Provide a warm, welcoming experience for all patients and visitors
• Guide patients through self-arrival technology or complete check-in at the front desk based on patient preference
• Collect copayments and other applicable patient payments at the point of service
• Confirm and update patient registration and demographic information during check-in and checkout
• Schedule follow-up appointments within the practice and coordinate ancillary services as needed
• Answer and appropriately triage incoming phone calls from patients, therapy facilities, and referring provider offices
• Assist patients in navigating the healthcare system by providing clear instructions and ensuring continuity of care
• Follow up on unresolved patient questions or concerns to promote a positive patient experience
• Utilize service recovery principles to address and resolve patient concerns in alignment with the UPMC Experience
• Register patients in the Biometrics (fingerprint recognition) program and educate them on program benefits
• Promote and support enrollment in the MyUPMC patient portal
• Educate patients regarding financial responsibilities and connect them with financial advocacy resources as appropriate
• Verify insurance coverage and benefits through online verification systems and telephone inquiries
• Obtain required patient signatures for consent to treatment and financial responsibility in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and other patient care support activities
• Complete patient preregistration and insurance verification processes
• Perform administrative duties including scanning medical records, faxing documents, and maintaining accurate patient records
• Remain knowledgeable about the MyUPMC Patient Portal and assist patients in accessing health information and care services through the platform
• Support clinic operations and contribute to an efficient, patient-centered workflow throughout the day.
