Specimen Processor
One of the first points of contact within the laboratory team, specimen processors receive, sort, and process samples from patients in the laboratory, capturing data and cataloguing specimens along the way.
Phlebotomist
Phlebotomists at UPMC, highly skilled in making every patient’s experience comfortable, expertly collect bloodwork—from routine panels to specialized tests—working seamlessly with the laboratory team to contribute to comprehensive diagnostic processes.
Histotechnician
As vital members of the laboratory team at UPMC, histotechnicians and histotechnologists utilize histologic technology to diagnose diseases, conduct research, and prepare samples for examination.
Cytologist
Skilled cytologists at UPMC assess patient samples to detect abnormalities or signs of disease, collaborating with pathologists and other medical professionals to provide vital observations during the diagnostic process.
Pathologists’ Assistant
These experts work alongside pathologists to prepare and process a variety of laboratory specimens, perform exams on human organ or tissue samples, and assist the pathologist with the identification and diagnosis of disease.
Medical Lab Tech & Scientist
Medical Lab Techs and Medical Lab Scientists at UPMC work diligently behind the scenes, chemically analyzing blood, tissue, and other samples from patients to detect abnormalities or signs of disease.
